Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner left Chicago's Friday night game against the host Milwaukee Brewers in the seventh inning due to a left knee contusion.
Hoerner originally sustained the injury in the sixth when he fouled a pitch off his leg. Trainers came out to look at Hoerner, who remained in the game and grounded out. He then came out on the field for the home half of the inning but didn't return for the seventh.
Miles Mastrobuoni took over for Hoerner, who was 0-for-3 before exiting. Patrick Wisdom later pinch-hit for Mastrobuoni.
Hoerner is hitting .283 with nine homers and 68 RBIs in 150 games this year.
